Embroidery, a craft that instantly elevates everything it adorns- textiles, garments, accessories, art pieces, and anything else one can think of. The touch of luxury that hand-embroidery adds has remained unmatched for over centuries now. And what makes hand-embroidery so special is the countless techniques that exist and many more, that skilled artisans across the world, are yet to create.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At Ricamour Embroideries, it gives us immense pride to see our master craftsmen, hailing from different parts of India, carrying forward some of these rare and age-old beading techniques. Techniques that they have learnt from their ancestors and will pass it down to their offsprings. Techniques that they beautifully adapt to our contemporary designs. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

While these designs travel the world across design houses, we are excited to give you a sneak peek into the making of these exquisite couture designs- ideas, materials, techniques, innovations, experiments and a whole lot of workmanship. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Plexiglass Scrolls!<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This is a Ricamour Embroideries design and the size of this swatch is 12 inches x 9 inches. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

If avant-garde had to be pictorially depicted, this is the design we would choose. It features custom-cut plexiglass placed over a layer of threads. The colours and grading technique have been carefully picked to make this bottom layer look like it is hand-painted. For us, this is what defines traditional techniques with a contemporary twist. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

It took our craftsmen a whole of 28 hours to create this swatch. There are many more hours spent in checking, repairing and re-checking to ensure all standards of couture are met, if not surpassed. For those questioning the exorbitant cost of hand-embroidery, can we rest the case?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Crystal Wrap!<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

This is a Ricamour Embroideries design and the size of this swatch is 8 inches x 6 inches. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The idea behind this design was to create a luxury, ornamental bubblewrap (yes, that’s how much we love bubblewrap). Crystals have been cupped with layers of clear sequins to achieve just the right amount of sparkle- not too much, not too little. And the touch of pink was added to make it look understated yet unforgettable. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

110 hours of our artisans time was spent on achieving this flawless finish. A bodice or a fully embellished clutch bag is what we had in mind when creating this swatch.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Golden Dragon!<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
\"Hand<\/a>
This is a Ricamour Embroideries design and the size of this swatch is 9.5 inches x 11.5 inches. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

The embroidery technique used here is called Zardozi- an elaborate metal embroidery using gold\/ silver threads. Zardozi = Zar (gold) + Dozi (sewing). Historically, it was used for royal attire, wall hangings, palanquins, etc and the craftsmen enjoyed royal patronage. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

The art saw a decline with industrialisation, however, there are some artisans in India keeping this remarkable technique alive. This gorgeous 3D dragon stitched on velvet is proof! It takes years of learning and practice to achieve this level of finishing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Our experienced karigars (craftsmen) took 80 hours to create this exquisite and versatile design. Place this on the back of a jacket and let it be an assured conversation starter!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Bugle Burst!<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n
\"Haute<\/a>
This is a Ricamour Embroideries design and the size of this swatch is 11 inches x 7 inches. <\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n

Rows of long lustre bugles topped with black bi-cone beads- this one\u2019s a personal favourite. Generally used horizontally, the bugles here are stitched vertically and are given the liberty to move in different directions. Thus, creating a beautiful disarray. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

Don\u2019t let the simplicity of this technique trick you. Each bugle has to be individually picked, stitched and secured. The time taken to compose and finish this swatch was 32 hours! We would use this design for tiny tassels on a LBD. What about you?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
