What if something rigid could feel fluid? What if embellishment could become structure?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The difference lies in how far that question is carried.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Lately, at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.instagram.com\/ricamourembroideries\/\">Ricamour<\/a>, we find ourselves returning to a set of ideas- from manipulated drapes and engineered textures to visual illusions and material explorations. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We have curated seven of these concepts that fuel our creative fire and challenge the way we approach design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-1-the-drama-of-the-drape\"><strong>1.<\/strong> <strong>The Drama of the Drape<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"http:\/\/chi.cds-vbv.com\/nandan.vartak@gmail.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/drapes.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"583\" src=\"http:\/\/chi.cds-vbv.com\/nandan.vartak@gmail.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/drapes-1024x583.png\" alt=\"Hand-made drapes and tulle flowers for couture and art installation. \" class=\"wp-image-3456\" srcset=\"http:\/\/chi.cds-vbv.com\/nandan.vartak@gmail.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/drapes-1024x583.png 1024w, http:\/\/chi.cds-vbv.com\/nandan.vartak@gmail.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/drapes-980x558.png 980w, http:\/\/chi.cds-vbv.com\/nandan.vartak@gmail.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/drapes-480x273.png 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">L to R: Maison Margiela, Benjamin Shine, Marchesa<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>We have always been fascinated by fabric manipulation- specifically when lightweight materials are engineered to create a heavyweight impact.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"h-\">A defining reference for this is Benjamin Shine\u2019s work for Maison Margiela (2017). By folding and ironing a single piece of black tulle into a hyper-realistic face, Shine moved beyond traditional draping to what he calls \u2018painting with fabric.\u2019<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We see a similar energy in Marchesa\u2019s oversized, dramatic tulle florals. It\u2019s about taking a material as humble as tulle and giving it a soul through precision-based manipulation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-2-art-meets-architecture-meets-fashion\"><strong>2. Art meets Architecture meets Fashion<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"http:\/\/chi.cds-vbv.com\/nandan.vartak@gmail.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Architecture.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"567\" src=\"http:\/\/chi.cds-vbv.com\/nandan.vartak@gmail.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Architecture-1024x567.png\" alt=\"Paris fashion weeks and milan fashion week designs for couture\" class=\"wp-image-3457\" srcset=\"http:\/\/chi.cds-vbv.com\/nandan.vartak@gmail.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Architecture-1024x567.png 1024w, http:\/\/chi.cds-vbv.com\/nandan.vartak@gmail.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Architecture-980x543.png 980w, http:\/\/chi.cds-vbv.com\/nandan.vartak@gmail.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Architecture-480x266.png 480w\" sizes=\"(min-width: 0px) and (max-width: 480px) 480px, (min-width: 481px) and (max-width: 980px) 980px, (min-width: 981px) 1024px, 100vw\" \/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">L to R: Ashdeen, Daniel del Valle, Rahul Mishra<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This is where the line between spatial design and fashion blurs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Daniel del Valle\u2019s bodice- constructed to look like a wooden trinket shelf complete with tiny vases- is wearable art.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We see that same architectural rigour in Ashdeen\u2019s work where a three-dimensional mythical world is worn literally on a sleeve. All hand-embroidered with threads, bullion and beads.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rahul Mishra\u2019s sculptural pieces hold their form through meticulous embroidery coupled with metal-craft techniques.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-3-the-fluid-future\"><strong>3. Their work utilizes 3D printing to create a &#8216;stuck in fluid&#8217; effect. We are all for using technology to produce something that feels entirely organic.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We see a similar energy in Ryan Johnson\u2019s series of figures made of wood and paint; they look like people zapping between dimensions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The idea? Capturing a state of motion within a static material.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>We also love the Paco Rabanne (1998) shoes for their modern, futuristic silhouette. High concept, simple design.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-4-hyper-realism\"><strong>4. We love the house&#8217;s SS26 recreation of nature to create couture.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>From teeth-baring, lifelike cat-head shoes complete with whiskers to scorpion tails and bird beaks, this is detailing at its peak.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dior\u2019s lotus shoes follow a similar path. It\u2019s about recreating nature with such precision that the viewer momentarily suspends disbelief.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It makes us stop questioning the &#8216;what&#8217; and start obsessing over the &#8216;how.&#8217;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-5-body-as-canvas\"><strong>5. Body as Canvas<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><a href=\"http:\/\/chi.cds-vbv.com\/nandan.vartak@gmail.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Anatomy.png\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"634\" src=\"http:\/\/chi.cds-vbv.com\/nandan.vartak@gmail.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2026\/03\/Anatomy-1024x634.png\" alt=\"Human anatomy inspired designs fro MET gala and couture week. This exploration also aligns with the MET Gala\u2019s theme this year. We can&#8217;t wait to see all the avant-garde interpretations.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-6-the-art-of-illusion\"><strong>6. Avant-garde design makes you question what you\u2019re seeing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Iris van Herpen made pleats with specially treated leather (coated only on one side with shiny metallic foil) to create a design that shifts with movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Loewe\u2019s SS23 pixelated look brought a digital \u2018glitch\u2019 into the physical world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Georges Hobeika used the technique of appliqu\u00e9s to create floating 3D lines. Robert Wun\u2019s \u2018raincoat\u2019 used clear crystals to make the fabric itself appear drenched.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Art of illusion transforms the body into a walking performance. It\u2019s about engineering an unreliable narrative.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"h-7-unconventional-materials\"><strong>7. The idea? A pencil skirt with actual pencils on it.&nbsp;&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Schiaparelli (SS24) incorporated old phones, mother boards, CPU coolers and chipsets along with crystals. A mesh between artistry and technology.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Balmain experimented with resin to create glass-like textures.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Proof that avant-garde is a result of challenging tradition and envisioning a masterpiece.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>At our studio, we are constantly dissecting these concepts to see how they can be pushed further.
